Brake Linings

SIBRE Australia stock a complete range of Brake Linings to suit all standard DIN 15435 Drum brakes as well as our CB8, USB3 and SHI disc brakes.

Our drum brake shoes are made with STS 5152 organic, non-asbestos lining, glued and riveted to a Cast Aluminum Shoe…  They can be used for all SIBRE TE and SB drum brake designs, and interchange with any DIN 15435 brake from any other manufacturer.

STS 5152 is a semi-flexible, bonded friction material of synthetic resin and rubber, with fine metal, non-asbestos additives. It is suitable for surface speeds up to 25 m/s and max temperature of 250⁰ C.  Coefficients of friction for carbon steel drums range from 0.4 in static applications to 0.2 for dynamic.

SIBRE disc brake linings stocked locally are of the sintered design, typically with MD 517, MD 550 or J755 friction materials depending on application and model of brake they are fitted to.  They are suitable for surface speeds up to 85 m/s and max temperature of 900⁰ C.  Coefficients of friction for carbon steel discs range from 0.4 in static applications to 0.35 for dynamic.

We can also offer, on request, a range of sintered linings suitable for DIP and ATEx rated zones, designed not to produce any spark or ignition source.

In addition to new linings we also offer a relining service for all drum shoes and brake bands. Relining includes removal of old worn material and installation of new linings in either bonded or woven roll organic material. Typical turnaround is 3-5 days.
